Urban Wine Experience-California EventOnly once a year does all of Urban Wine Country gather together in one place, creating the opportunity to taste all the best artisanal wines made in the Bay Area all at the same time. The East Bay Vintners Alliance (EBVA) will host the 9th annual Urban Wine Xperience at Jack London Square Ferry Lawn in Oakland on Saturday August 2, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. More than 20 East Bay urban wineries will pour a wide array of their white, rosé, red and dessert wines. Local eateries and food purveyors will create delicious bites that pair perfectly with the EBVA’s wine portfolio. Wine, food and live music can all be enjoyed in the outdoor setting of vibrant Jack London Square on the shore at the Ferry Lawn.

“We source the best grapes from California and make wine right here, where we live and work, near the people, ” said Shauna Rosenblum, interim president of the EBVA, and winemaker at Rock Wall Wine Company in Alameda. “Supporting local artisans and eating and consuming local goods can include wines. This is the ultimate event to explore and discover the incredible array of high-quality and award-winning wines being produced right here in urban places in the East Bay, like Oakland, Berkeley and Alameda.”

From innovative blends to mainstream favorites, the featured local wines range from single varietals such as Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Cabernet and Viognier, to unique blends and even mead (honey wine). The vineyards from which EVBA winemakers source grapes are as far north as Mendocino County to the local Oakland hills, and as far south as Paso Robles.

Tickets are priced at $35 for wine club members, $45 for advance tickets and $60 at the door. Designated drivers receive discounted tickets at $15. Tickets can be purchased online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/667797.

Participating wineries include: Aubin Cellars, Campovida, Carica Wines, Cerruti Cellars, Chouinard Vineyard and Winery, Dashe Cellars, Ehrenberg Cellars, Eno Wines, Irish Monkey Cellars, JC Cellars, Lusu Cellars, Mead Kitchen, Paradox Wines, Periscope Cellars, R&B Cellars, Rock Wall Wine Company, Rosenblum Cellars, Stage Left Cellars, Stomping Girl Wines, Two Mile Wines, Urban Legend and Urbano Cellars. Urban Wine Xperience also provides visitors the chance to taste wines from wineries without tasting rooms or that are otherwise only accessible by appointment.
